For 30 years the season has begun in Eagle with our beloved tradition: Christmas on Broadway.

Said the Vail Daily: “Christmas on Broadway is so charming that if Norman Rockwell was still alive he’d paint it.”

On the first Saturday of December, Eagle’s Christmas on Broadway transforms downtown Eagle into a Christmas village. Three decades ago, a group gathered for lunch at an Eagle Chamber of Commerce meeting and came up with the idea for a Christmas celebration in downtown Eagle… and it’s still going strong 30 years later!

Join us for “A Traditional Down Valley Christmas Celebration” on December 7, 2019 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Yes, it’s 30 years since this tradition began and it’s the 5th annual WassailFest, so we are making it as special as possible.

WassailFest (December 5th – 7th)

WassailFest is a fun event that encourages the community to connect with the plethora of small businesses in Eagle. We invite everyone to come out and sample Wassail at their favorite businesses and discover some new businesses too! Once again we are grateful to sponsor and organizer Circle-A Auto!

From December 5-7, participating Eagle businesses will serve up their own secret Wassail recipes. Wassailers are encouraged to taste at least 12 different Wassails and then vote for their favorite variety. All “12 Sips of Wassail” cards turned in that have been validated by at least 12 participating businesses will be included in a drawing for a Yeti Hopper Flip 12 Cooler Bag, donated by Comerford/State Farm Insurance. Cards can be turned in Thursday and Friday at Comerford Insurance Agency during business hours, or at Comerford’s tent on Broadway before 4:30pm on Saturday.

The business that receives the most participant votes is crowned Eagle’s WassailMeister and is awarded the WassailMeister Traveling Trophy (seen here with last year’s winner, Ryan Murray owner of Red Canyon Cafe.)

The following businesses will be offering specials to Wassailers:

  • Eagle Visitors Center—Teachers get 20% discount thru’ Christmas, County/Chamber members get 15%
  • Pickups Pizza—DINE IN ONLY—Large pizza with 2 toppings for $14 (one per customer, not valid with any other coupon)

Be sure to support your local artists and businesses for your Holiday shopping needs and HAVE FUN WASSAILING!!!

Noel Night (December 5th, 5-8pm)

Do your Christmas shopping on Broadway in Eagle’s Historic Downtown.

WassailFest will run in conjunction with Noel Night on Broadway. Special reusable Silishot sampling cups will be available at various participating businesses on Broadway—while they last!!! Pick one up and use it throughout WassailFest to help reduce waste!

Parade on Broadway (December 7th, 5:30pm)

For the first time, in celebration of our 30th anniversary, the parade will have a theme: Christmas Now & Then. We have also launched a dedicated website: www.ChristmasOnBroadway.co and a Facebook page (please like it!)

Our parade will be bigger and better than ever – join the parade with a float or a group – check out details at our website! The community will come together for the parade starting at 5:30pm on Broadway, with music playing on Broadway from 3pm.

Children can get a bag of candy from 5:00pm at The Peppermint Station next to Parade Central to enjoy while watching the parade, sponsored by Berkshire Hathaway Colorado Properties. We will also be handing out glow sticks to all the kiddos.

The United Methodist Church will, as always, serve their delicious chicken noodle soup in front of Batson’s Corner Store.

Christmas Party in the Park (December 7th, 6-8pm)

Everyone will follow the parade to the Eagle Town Park to see the live nativity, tell Santa their Christmas wishes, sample Wassail, warm up by the bonfire and enjoy the sounds of Hardscrabble until 8:00pm.

Santa’s Workshop is sponsored by Alpine Bank.
