Tourists coming through Eagle County Airport during the winter of 2014/2105 spent $200 million in Eagle County or an average of $2,134 per visitor, per a recent study conducted by the EGE Air Alliance*.

The Alliance was interested in knowing if guests had fun while staying here and how much money they spent, so they asked them as they waited for a departing flight. The intercept study was conducted with 1,335 departing guests, or approximately ten percent of the ski-season visitors that come through the airport. The results show they spent an average of $2,134, with the majority going for lodging ($859) and lift tickets, ski school and ski equipment rental ($466).

While, the Town of Eagle would like to receive a greater percentage of these winter ski season tourist dollars, the town and the Eagle Chamber are collaborating to bring more tourist dollars to our town and to our businesses, especially during the warmer months. For example, an electronic monitor will be installed at the Visitors Center to encourage its more than 35,000 annual visitors to experience our lovely mountain town. They will be stimulated to partake of a meal or two, shop in our Historic Downtown, experience our many outdoor activities, enjoy the ShowDown Town Concert series, and consider staying a night or more in one of our fine hotels.

The Eagle Chamber has also published a tourist booklet that will be shared with large groups or special events that are coming to the county. The first booklet was designed for the 2016 World Fly Fishing Championship to be held in Vail in September 2016. These world-champion anglers arrive up to two weeks prior to practice and need affordable accommodations, so it was the perfect opportunity to promote Eagle, its local businesses and its amenities. In addition, to the printed version, this multi-page four-color booklet is available in a downloadable pdf format.

The mission of the Eagle Chamber of Commerce (ECC) is to promote the Town of Eagle’s business community in an effort to encourage economic prosperity for our members and our community. Therefore, increasing our visibility to the thousands of tourists who pass through the airport, the Visitors Center or travel on I-70 will only benefit our members but the entire community.
