Chamber President, Mick Daly, Juice Plus+, presented the Eagle Chamber’s 2017 Mission and our long-term Vision.

Congratulations to the award winners and runners-up in our Chamber Awards 2016: Harry Taylor (Eagle County) and Beth Morrison Morrison (Ambassador of the Year), Yvonne Schwartz from Yoga Off Broadway and John & Charla Blizzard (Business of the Year), Danielle Rozga and Jan Rosenthal Townsend (Member of the Year). Special thanks and congrats to Jan Rosenthal Townsend from Alpine Ambiance (now closed) who received a special award for “”Capturing the Spirit of Eagle for 18 Years”; all seen above with Michelle Friedman, MC of the award ceremony and Chamber Board Director.

‘Building a Better Eagle’ continues to be the program’s theme and included ‘State of the Town’ delivered by Mayor Anne McKibbin and town staff members Morgan Landers (Assistant Town Planner) and Jeremy Gross (Special Events Coordinator).

Clark Anderson, Executive Director, Community Builders, addressed the thorny question: “How do we address affordable housing in Eagle and the Eagle Valley?”

That is a crux question and one that became both more complicated and more important when voters declined a ballot measure to create a long-term source of funding for affordable housing in Eagle County. Looking ahead, the Town of Eagle, along with others in the valley, will need to find solutions to an issue that looks more and more like a crisis and increasingly difficult to solve.

So, is housing affordability truly a challenge in our community and the valley as a whole? If so, what options do we have to tackle the challenge? How are other communities like ours addressing this challenge? What pitfalls do we need to avoid as we work to bring solutions together into a workable strategy?

Here is Clark’s presentation (pdf). The Chamber and Town of Eagle slides are here.
